This is an AU story, using the cast of Final Fantasy VII. It’s a supernatural story, inspired by too much X-files, set in New York in our days. The story deals with shounen-ai / yaoi, but isn’t likely to get too graphic, because I can’t write good lemons… …The pairings are Sephiroth x Cloud, Cid x Vincent and Sephiroth x Vincent.

The characters doesn’t belong to me, no matter how much I wish otherwise. Instead, they’re the property of Squaresoft, who probably won’t really need to sue me, seeing how I am a broke student while they are a giant company. Oh, and Vincent’s a vampire in this. I know that’s not canon, but this is an AU.

Cloud was seated in a booth in 7th Heaven, a fancy nightclub that worked with the Agency, and he was glaring at Emerald, who was seated across from him, and had decided to amuse himself by annoying him as much as possible. The green-haired man was currently questioning him about his lack of a love life. Cloud felt like strangling him slowly and carefully.  “Look at that girl, will you? She’s hot!” Emerald grinned. Cloud glanced briefly over at the girl, and looked back at his cousin. “Yes, I guess. If you like the sluttish type.” Emerald grinned even wider. “I do!” “Then go and talk to her!” he told the other man, and sank back down into his seat.

Clubs in general annoyed Cloud. He had no love for loud music and crowded dance-floors. However, Emerald loved places like this. Not that that was a surprise, the green-haired man would love any place with pretty women. Emerald was terribly shallow like that. Cloud sighed and shook his head. He had spent all day in the library, going through all the information they had on this “One Winged Angel”, only to come up blank. None of the information was useful for actually finding this creature. Now, when he was tired and bored, he had to sit here and sulk instead of going home.

“Can I sit here?” someone suddenly asked, and interrupted Cloud’s thoughts. Cloud nodded, and looked up as the stranger sat down across from him, only to find himself staring. The man had the longest hair he had ever seen on anyone, and it was pure silver in color. His eyes were green, and seemed to glow. He was the most handsome person Cloud had ever laid his eyes on. He smiled. “Is there something wrong?” he asked, and Cloud found himself blushing furiously and shaking his head. The man smiled. “Good.”

Cloud watched the man carefully, keeping his head lowered so that he wouldn’t notice. It wasn’t like him to be like this, he had never reacted to anyone like this before, and he found it strange. Not necessarily bad, just very unusual. He didn’t know what to do, for the first time in a long time. Blushing again, he looked down into his drink, trying to understand why he was behaving so hopelessly out of character.

Sephiroth looked at the man across from him. Vincent had told him that the agent responsible for the investigation of the murders would show up here, but he had refused to come with him. Vincent hated crowds. Sephiroth could sympathize. But he liked the feeling of life all around him. It remained him of something.

He looked at the agent again. Vincent had mentioned him being young, but he had said nothing about him being cute. And he was cute. Large blue eyes, spiky blond hair and a beautiful face. A very pretty combination. A small smile nearly slid onto Sephiroth’s face. He liked watching humans, as he found them amusing. This young man was different, though. Vincent had told him that Lucrecia had said that this agent had a very special destiny. Sephiroth had told Vincent that he needed to start talking to someone who wasn’t a ghost.

He watched the young man intensely, memorizing everything about him. The agent was looking down, trying to avoid his gaze, and there was the faintest trace of a blush in his cheeks. So pretty, he thought, aware that he was nearly licking his lips. / Stop that, Sephiroth! / Vincent’s voice scolded in his head. /You’re supposed to help him, not seduce him! / Sephiroth snorted. / I wasn’t going to seduce him. I just think he’s pretty…/

“You look uncomfortable,” he told the agent, ignoring any answers he might get from Vincent. He focused on his task, and his task only. The agent nodded slowly and lifted his head to look at him. Sephiroth smiled and offered his hand. “I’m Sephiroth,” he said, trying to get the young man to relax. The agent took his hand and shook it. “Cloud,” he said. Sephiroth smiled again. Cloud, is it? Nice name, he thought. It fitted the young man, though. Getting sidetracked again, Seph? He asked himself dryly.

Sighing, he looked back at Cloud. He knew that even though he liked looking at the other man, that was as far as he would ever go. He couldn’t afford the danger taking a lover would place them both in. He didn’t need the distraction it would be, either. Remember, he thought, you are only here to find out how much he knows. Because Vincent said he might become a threat.

“I hear you are investigating the One Winged Angel case,” he said, getting to the point. Cloud looked up, confused. “How did you know? That’s top secret!” Sephiroth almost smiled. “Oh, a little bat whispered it in my ear. I want to help you. It’s a case of personal importance to me.” Cloud looked straight at him, his bright blue eyes glowing. “Tell me what you know…”

-TBC…

Author’s Note: I’ve had a major writers block lately, but I’m getting over it now. Next chapter will be longer, I promise, as well as more yaoi-ish…
